INSTRUCTIONS
BEFORE JUVEDERM FILLER TREATMENT
2-3 WEEKS BEFORE:
Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event you’re attending such as a wedding or vacation.
If this is your very first treatment, you may also want to allow time for a touch-up if necessary. A touch-up can be performed 2 weeks after the initial treatment.
Bruising and swelling can wax and wane and will be most present during this time if this occurs. This is especially true in the lip area.
If you are anxious or worried about your procedure, feel free to talk to your provider. We are highly experienced and may have suggestions that will help.
1 WEEK BEFORE:
Avoid supplements such as Fish Oil/Omega 3, Ginko, St. Johns Wort, and anti-inflammatories of any kind unless medically indicated. These are known blood thinners and cessation will help to limit bruising.
72 HOURS BEFORE:
Stop blood thinners - NSAIDs, Aspirin, etc. (Unless medically indicated)
Stop topical use of retinol or other active ingredient products
Start oral Arnica. Arnica is an herbal homeopathic supplement that has been shown to decrease bruising and bleeding.
This may shorten your healing time if you are prone to these side effects.
If you are prone to cold sores alert your provider and an antiviral can be called in for you to prevent an outbreak after treatment.
24 HOURS BEFORE:
Avoid alcohol intake of any kind to limit bruising.
If you become ill, develop a rash or cold sore please call and reschedule.
DAY OF:
Come in with a clean face - your make-up WILL be wiped off.
Make sure you eat prior to your appointment to ensure good blood sugar.
If you frequently exercise, complete your routine prior to your appointment. You will be asked not to exercise for at least 24 hours afterward.
Allow for the full appointment time to be treated. This gives time to complete consents, perform assessments, answer questions and perform the treatment.
AFTER YOUR JUVEDERM FILLER TREATMENT
DAY OF:
Results start to appear immediately after treatment. The treatment is considered healed after 14 days.
Immediately after the treatment, there may be redness, swelling, tenderness, and/or an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injection. The inconvenience is usually temporary.
Occasionally the initial swelling after lip treatment may last longer. Some patients can experience swelling for about a week.
It is not uncommon for post-treatment swelling to be asymmetrical. This can cause the treated area, especially in the lips to appear uneven and/or lumpy. This is a normal occurrence and will resolve within 2-4 weeks.
Do not rub or touch the treated area. Even if you believe you feel a lump or a bump. This is not abnormal and will subside on its own. Rubbing can cause the product to migrate and alter your results. If you have a concern over something, please call your provider.
Do not apply make-up for at least 12 hours.
Avoid using irritating products such as Retinols, glycolic, or other active ingredient skincare.
These types of products are intended to break down dead skin and can irritate the skin or break down a scab. It is ok to wash your face that evening with gentle products.
Avoid working out, or performing other activities that involve heavy lifting or sweating for 24 hours. Sweat is dirty and can increase the opportunity for infection. These activities also, increase circulation which can then worsen any bruising or swelling.
Continue Arnica to prevent bruising. Arnica can be taken 3 times a day until the resolution of your symptoms.
Monitor for signs of serious adverse reactions. These include:
Vascular occlusion: signs of this include blanching (white color), extreme swelling, extreme pain, cool temperature to the treatment area.
Infection: extreme pain, heat, fever, significant swelling.
If you believe you have any of these side effects notify your provider immediately.

Avoid microdermabrasion, facials, chemical peels, laser
