INSTRUCTIONS

BEFORE YOUR PDO THREADS TREATMENT

2-3 WEEKS BEFORE:

  • Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event you’re attending such as a wedding or vacation. Results start to appear approximately 3-5 days after treatment with the full effects in place after 14 days.

  • If this is your very first treatment, you may also want to allow time for a touch-up if necessary.

    Bruising and swelling can wax and wane and will be most present during this time if this occurs.

  • If you are anxious or worried about your procedure, feel free to talk to the healthcare practitioner who will perform your procedure. Our practitioners are highly experienced and may have suggestions that will help.

1 WEEK BEFORE:

  • Avoid supplements such as Fish Oil/Omega 3, Ginko, St. Johns Wort, and anti-inflammatories of any kind to limit bruising.

72 HOURS BEFORE:

  • Cease blood thinners - NSAIDs, Aspirin, etc. (*Unless medically necessary and/or Dr. prescribed)

  • Cease retinol or other active ingredient products

  • Start oral Arnica - Arnica is an herbal homeopathic supplement that has been shown to decrease bruising and bleeding. This may increase your healing time if you are prone to these side effects.

  • If you are prone to cold sores alert your provider and an antiviral can be called in for you to prevent an outbreak after treatment.

24 HOURS BEFORE:

  • Avoid alcohol intake of any kind to limit bruising.

  • If you become ill, develop a rash or cold sore please call and reschedule.

DAY OF:

  • Come in with a clean face

  • If you frequently exercise, complete your routine prior to your appointment.

  • Allow for the full appointment time to be treated. This gives time to complete consents, perform assessments, answer questions and perform the treatment.

AFTER YOUR PDO THREADS TREATMENT

DAY OF:

  • DO NOT massage areas where the threads are placed unless instructed.

  • Immediately after the treatment, there may be tightness, redness, swelling, tenderness, and/or an itching sensation in the treated area. This is normal. The inconvenience is usually temporary.

  • Swelling after treatment is normal. Some patients can experience swelling and/or for about a week. The swelling can be asymmetrical causing and the treated area(s) can look somewhat uneven during this time.

  • Do not rub or touch the treated area. Even if you believe you feel a lump or a bump. This is not abnormal and will subside on its own.

  • Do not apply make-up for at least 12 hours.

  • Continue Arnica to prevent bruising.

  • Monitor for signs of serious adverse reaction like vascular occlusion: signs of this include blanching (white color), extreme swelling, extreme pain, cool temperature to the treatment area. If you believe you have any of these side effects notify your provider immediately.

FOR 24-48 HOURS AFTER:

  • Bruising may appear in the injected areas. This is normal and will subside within a few days to a week.

  • Arica may be continued to speed up healing time. It is recommended to take Arnica till bruising clears.

  • Stinging or pulling pain and discomfort are normal and can be alleviated with over-the-counter Tylenol

  • NSAIDs, such as Ibuprofen and Naproxen, as well as alcohol and other medications that affect blood clotting effects like fish oils, Vitamin E, ginkgo, should be avoided immediately after treatment for 48 hours.

FOR 5 DAYS AFTER:

  • Keep pilot areas clean and free of make-up.

  • Avoid working out, or other activities that involve heavy lifting or excessive sweating. These activities can increase circulation which can then increase any bruising or swelling. Sweat can increase the opportunity for infection.

  • Monitor for signs of infection. This may include redness and tenderness in the infected area and fever. Should you develop an infection, antibiotics may be necessary.

  • Sleep elevated on your back for 3-5 days.

  • Gentle cleansing of the treatment area.
